most-compatible Linux distribution

Hi,

I'm relatively new to Linux, and I was just wondering
which Linux distributions (Fedora, RedHat, etc) are
most compatible with NCAR graphics. I have Mandrake
10.1 which has the shared-object X11 libraries instead
of the static X11 libraries required by NCAR graphics.
 Is there a Linux distribution which comes standard
with the static X11 libraries?
