Problem with X11

Hello Everyone,

I am trying to run MM5 regional climate model and view the output by
means of NCAR graphics. When I try to run the command "make plotfmt",
the program gives me the following error,

IPO link: can not find -lX11

IPO error: unresolved

I am fairly newbie in Linux. Can someone tell me what the error might
be?
