    Hello,

I have installed from source NCAR Graphics 4.2.3 on a Sun Sparc with Solaris 8 and the gcc/g77 compilers. The install seemed to go well, and when I run an example to test, I get what seems like a normal response.

    >[weather@cirrus]#ncargex cpex08

Next I issue the command: ctrans -d X11 cpex08.ncgm and a window pops open but is black - no plot. I have attached the cpex08.ncgm file, it is almost 120K, so there's something there besides black. This strangely also happens on another system I just installed the NCAR Graphics binaries on, a PC running Redhat 7.1. Can anyone tell me what I am missing here?

Thank you in advance for any help.

    Patrick
