    Dear Mr. Carpenter,

    This was literally a one-letter bug that we have found and fixed. The
    fix will be in the next release of NCL, probably to be released this
    Monday or Tuesday (you can go to
    http://ngwww.ucar.edu/ncl/whatsnew.html to find out when it actually
    happens).

    If you need the fix now, email me privately and I'll arrange to ftp
    you a new ncl.
