unwanted colorfills in Ezmap

I am using Conpack and Ezmap to create colorfilled contour maps using a
Lambert equal area projection of the globe. I have defined parameters so
that the map should only be drawn inside the unit circle ( CALL MPSETI
('EL', 1)), but I still occaisonally get a large color filled ring outside
the unit circle. It seems like the more complicated the contour map is, the
more likely the unwanted "ring around the map". Any ideas on how to
eliminate this problem would be appreciated.
