NCARG for color-blind people

Greetings

An email from a color-blind user of my NCARG-produced filled contour
plots has requested any help I could provide in additionally labelling
the plots. I might add contours with numbers to the plots but on many
there are so many values/colors (up to 22 - i have to go through the
color wheel twice and use strong/weak intensity to distinguish them)
that they would be very difficult to read and would also get in the
way of those just trying to use the colors. There may well be no good
solution, but I just thought I'd see if anyone else has run into this
question and if so how they have dealt with it.
