Knowing the error you recieved would be helpful in diagnosing your problem.
Also the exact line you used to call the function would be helpfull.

You do know that you don't pass the file as an argument but must select the
specific parameter you want to interpolate, right? Also the parameter must
be 3D only, no time dimension and the dimension ordering must
be [lev]x[lat]x[lon].
