Greetings,

The "idt" application uses another NCAR Graphics application called
"ictrans" to display the metafiles. So, if you are seeing a
"translator aborted" error message from "idt", this usually means that
"idt" is trying to use a version of "ictrans" that is different from
its own version, or else it can't find "ictrans" at all.

To be sure "idt" and "ictrans" are the same versions, you can type the
following at your prompt:

        % idt -V
        % ictrans -V

Also, you need to be sure that your NCARG_ROOT environment variable is
set to the parent directory of where NCAR Graphics has been installed
on your system, and that "$NCARG_ROOT/bin" is on your search path.
The person who installed NCAR Graphics on your machine should be able
to help you set up your environment to run NCAR Graphics.
