Hi Steve,

I haven't tried under Linux, but I have compiled NCARG with gcc and
g77. I sent one tiny fix to NCAR and a lot of complaints to Craig
Burley (author of g77) so all those problems got fixed before the
public release of g77. I figured NCARG would be a source of fortran in
a style unlike my own for testing the compiler :-).

You might want to build the HDF library first or you will get
unresolved externals in the ncarview applications - or figure out how
to tell it not to use the HDF stuff.
