We just installed an HP1200C/PS printer on our net for use with our
SUNs. We have successfully printed 6.5 mb NCAR 3.2 graphics postscript
files (using ps.land.color etc) but the throughput is quite slow --
25 minutes for a 6.5 mb file. I assume that HPGL would be more compact
and efficient for this HP printer. Are there graphcaps for HPGL and
specifically for HP1200C type deskjet printers?

Alternatively, is there a way to reduce the size of NCAR postscript
files -- I vaguely remember talk on the newsgroup that NCAR ps files
are a bit large.

Also, one of our collaborators would prefer files in TIFF format for
use on a film recorder (I will have to ask for the brand).
Is there a graphcap for this?

Thanks for your help.
