Regarding your question about modifying ctrans to produce AWIPS,
the answer depends. If you have to get into the ctrans code to write
a driver like the x11 driver or the ps driver, it could be a bit
of a pain. If you can describe the output format for AWIPS (of
which I know nothing) in a manner simple enough to be captured
in a graphcap (like the tek drivers), then it would be easy.
I wrote the ps driver for ctrans, and it took me several weeks.
I can certainly point you to any information you need on the
CGM, like the Standard itself, and a good book on the Standard.
If you could tell me a little more about the AWIPS format, I
could tell you if there is hope to do it with a graphcap.
