In an earlier reply I( said I could not use the gnu
convert stuff in the production environment
at NCEP. That is not becasue se don't trust
it but because I never ported it to our Cray PVP machines
which are production ruggedized.. It is very handy otherwise
and I would recommend it over trying to roll your own
(this is relevant to the question about vanilla
cgms and my suggestion to use ictrans -d xwd to\
produce a raster image rather than deal with the cgm.
)
(gnu convert converts just about any format
to just about any other formtat)
